Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
Chimney Company in Gardena, CA
Chimney cleaning in Gardena typically costs $179 – $389, and it’s work that shouldn’t wait until the first cool evening of fall. Gardena’s post-war brick chimneys have spent sixty-plus years in damp marine air, and that changes what a sweep finds inside. We’re Ashby Chimney Los Angeles, led by Nathan Corliss, and we’ve been doing this since 2002. If you want a written price before anyone climbs onto your roof, call us at (213) 652-7061.
Why Gardena Homes Are Different
Gardena’s housing stock is mostly single-family homes built between the 1940s and 1960s. Those chimneys were built with clay tile liners and modest brick exteriors, and most of them have never seen a stainless steel liner. The original mortar was mixed for a drier climate than the one Gardena actually has. Cool, damp air off the coast works into the brick and mortar year-round, and we regularly see efflorescence, spalling brick, and rusted dampers on chimneys that have never had a structural problem.
There’s another Gardena-specific issue: the Newport-Inglewood fault runs west of the city, and the minor earthquakes we feel here crack original clay tile liners. A cracked liner isn’t something you’d notice from the living room, but it’s exactly what a camera inspection finds. That’s a different failure pattern than what we see in Hawthorne or the newer fireplaces in Torrance, where mechanical and gas-log issues are more common than seismic liner cracks. Gardena chimneys also tend to run smaller than average, which means creosote accumulation narrows the flue faster and makes annual cleaning more important.
Styles & brands we work with

Our Main Gardena Services
Most Gardena homeowners call us first for a sweep, then follow up when we show them what the camera saw. Here are the three services we handle in Gardena, each with its own page.
Chimney Sweep in Gardena
A sweep in Gardena means more than brushing soot. The marine-layer air keeps flues damp, and damp creosote sets hard and adheres to clay tile in a way dry creosote doesn’t. We remove it with rotary rods, not just a wire brush, because the hard glaze Gardena flues develop needs mechanical action to break loose. We also check the damper, flashing, and cap while we’re on the roof. Every job ends with a written report on what we found and what it means. Chimney Sweep in Gardena

Chimney Inspection in Gardena
Gardena’s 1940s – 1960s chimneys rarely have modern liners, and the original clay tiles hide cracks you can’t see from the hearth. A Level 2 inspection runs a camera from top to bottom and catches the hairline fractures that minor quakes along the Newport-Inglewood fault leave behind. Moisture intrusion, spalling brick, and rusted dampers all show up clearly on camera, and you’ll get the footage to see for yourself. We never recommend a repair you haven’t watched us find. Fireplace Repair in Gardena
Repairs in Gardena are often liner work, but we also rebuild fireboxes, replace dampers, and repair crowns. The damp coastal air means chimney crowns crack faster here, letting water into the brick and causing damage that looks worse than it is. When we repair, we use materials from recognized chimney-trade brands and back the work with a written guarantee. If the repair fails within the guarantee period, we come back and fix it at no charge. Fireplace Repair in Gardena

What Gardena Customers Say
"We smelled something off every time the heat kicked on. Turned out to be debris in the flue. He cleared it and the smell was gone. Patient explaining it all to a first timer like me."
