Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
The Ashby Chimney Los Angeles Guarantee
We’ve swept thousands of Los Angeles fireplaces since 2002, and the promise has never changed: you get a written price before any work starts, a written guarantee when the work is done, and a technician who stands behind both. If something we repaired fails during the guarantee period, we come back and fix it at no charge. No arguing, no fine print gymnastics, no “that part isn’t covered.” The 365-Day Done Right Promise means exactly what it says: if it’s not done right, we make it right. That’s the only way Nathan Corliss has ever wanted to run a chimney company.
What’s Covered
- Workmanship on every repair we perform. If a repair we made fails because of how it was installed or executed, we return and correct it at no charge inside the guarantee period.
- The written price you approved. The number on your invoice matches the number we quoted at the door. No surprise line items, no “we found something else while we were up there” add-ons without a conversation and your sign-off first.
- Cleanup after every job. We lay drop cloths before we start, we run a HEPA-filter vacuum during the sweep, and we leave your hearth cleaner than we found it. Ashby carries ash right in the name, and we take the stuff with us when we go.
- The appointment window we gave you. When we say we’ll be there, we’re there. Los Angeles traffic is what it is, but our scheduling accounts for the 405, the 101, and whatever the 10 is doing that day.
- The parts and materials we install. We use professional-grade materials from established chimney-trade suppliers: DuraFlex, HeatShield, Gelco, Olympia Chimney, Famco, and Copperfield. Not whatever happened to be rolling around in the van.
- An honest assessment of what actually needs doing. If your flue is fine, we tell you it’s fine. We never recommend a liner replacement or masonry repair without camera evidence you can see with your own eyes.

Our Satisfaction Promise
Here’s how it works if you’re not happy with the job. You call us at (213) 652-7061, a live person answers, and we schedule a return visit. Nathan Corliss reviews what happened, looks at the work, and we make a decision: fix it, redo it, or make it right another way. You don’t pay for the second visit. You don’t pay for the correction. The 365-Day Done Right Promise is our standing offer, and it’s not a warranty we sell as an add-on. It comes with every job because we believe a chimney company that won’t stand behind its own work shouldn’t be in your home. If a covered repair fails, we return inside the guarantee period and fix it at no charge. That’s the whole promise, written on the paperwork you get before we start, because a handshake is good and a written guarantee is better.
Licensed & Insured Backing
A guarantee is only as strong as the company behind it, and the company behind ours is real. Ashby Chimney Los Angeles is a state-licensed and insured chimney service, which means a few things that matter more than the paper itself. It means our work meets the code requirements Los Angeles County actually enforces. It means the technicians who step into your home are background-checked and uniformed, so you know exactly who you’re letting through the door. It means if something goes wrong, you’re not left holding the bill. Insurance and licensing aren’t the exciting part of chimney work, but they’re the part you’ll be glad existed if you ever need them. We carry both, we’re glad to show proof, and we never treat them as optional extras. They’re the floor, not the ceiling.

AfterWhy the Guarantee Matters in Los Angeles
Los Angeles chimneys deal with conditions most of the country never sees. We get Santa Ana wind events that push fireplaces harder than a typical winter night in Chicago. We get homes built in the 1940s and 1950s, many with original clay flue liners that are now seven decades old. And we get a surprising number of fireplaces that go years between inspections because a mild climate makes people forget the thing standing in their living room is a combustion appliance. A guarantee matters more here, not less, because the failures we catch are often the result of neglect that took years to develop. When you hire a sweep, you’re hiring someone to tell you the truth about what’s dangerous and what can wait. We stand behind that assessment just like we stand behind the physical work.
What the Guarantee Does Not Cover
We’d rather tell you plainly than let you find out later. The guarantee covers our workmanship: the sweep, the inspection, the repair we performed. It does not cover damage caused by events outside our control, like an earthquake shifting your chimney stack, a roof leak that soaks the masonry, or a tenant who decides the fireplace makes a decent incinerator. It also doesn’t cover normal wear that continues after we leave; chimney components age whether we touch them or not. What it does cover is simple: if we did the repair and the repair fails, we’re back. Inside the guarantee period, at no charge, until it’s right. If you’re ever unsure whether something falls under the guarantee, call (213) 652-7061 and ask. We’ll give you a straight answer, which is the same way we try to do everything else.
Frequently Asked Questions
The 365-Day Done Right Promise says that if we perform a repair and it fails during the guarantee period, we return and fix it at no charge. The guarantee is written on the paperwork you receive when the job is complete. You don’t have to register it, you don’t have to buy it separately, and you don’t have to argue with anyone to use it. Call us, we schedule the return visit, and we make it right. If you want to know exactly what’s covered on a specific repair, call (213) 652-7061 and we’ll walk you through it before we ever schedule the work.
For our purposes, nothing. We use both words to describe the same thing: our written commitment to stand behind the work we do. The guarantee covers workmanship, meaning the quality of how the job was performed. Warranty is the same idea with different paperwork. The important part isn’t the vocabulary; it’s the commitment in writing. If our repair fails, we return at no charge inside the guarantee period. That’s the part that matters.
Yes, the parts and materials we install are covered alongside our workmanship. When we install a HeatShield resurfacing system or a DuraFlex liner or any component from our trade suppliers, those materials are part of the job we guarantee. If a material fails and it was installed by us, we handle it. We don’t send you off to chase a manufacturer’s warranty claim while we wash our hands of the job. We installed it, we back it, and that’s the end of it.
Call (213) 652-7061 the moment you notice it. A live person answers, day or night, because chimney concerns don’t keep business hours and neither do we. Describe what you’re seeing or hearing, and we’ll tell you whether it needs a return visit or a second look. If it’s covered by the guarantee, we schedule the return at no charge. If it’s not covered, we’ll tell you that plainly and give you an honest price for whatever the fix would be. Either way, you’ll know where you stand without waiting on hold or leaving a voicemail that vanishes into a callback queue.
Because the two biggest complaints in this industry are surprise invoices and warranties that evaporate when you try to use them. Written pricing before work begins eliminates the first problem. A written guarantee eliminates the second. We’ve been doing both since 2002, long enough to know that customers who get everything in writing are customers who call us back next year. The Kingswell Way, the standard every independently owned Kingswell location follows, says it plainly: say the price, show up in the window, leave it cleaner, put the guarantee in writing, come back if it fails. We don’t think that’s radical. We think it’s the bare minimum.
Ashby Chimney Los Angeles is independently owned and operated under the standards of the Kingswell Guarantee. That means our location sets its own pricing, employs its own technicians, and answers its own phone. It also means every Kingswell location follows the same five commitments: written pricing, on-time arrival, verified cleanup, written guarantees, and free return visits for covered repairs. The local ownership matters because Nathan Corliss lives with the reputation of the work we do in Los Angeles. The Kingswell standard matters because it keeps the bar high no matter which location you call.
